Project Background:
In the 2023 expansion project of Piraeus Port, Greece, the client needed mooring equipment to withstand strong Mediterranean winds.
Solution:
Implemented mooring bollards with 316L stainless steel + titanium alloy composite coating. The structure was optimized via ANSYS simulation, achieving a tensile strength of 800MPa. Compared to conventional products, the wind resistance level was increased by 2 grades (capable of withstanding Category 12 typhoons).
Achievements:
After installation, the equipment was tested during the 2024 winter storms, with vessel mooring displacement ≤5cm. It obtained a special certification from the Hellenic Register of Shipping (HRCS) and later secured orders for 3 additional terminals.
