1. Production Process

The manufacturing of 3 strands twisted PE (Polyethylene), PP (Polypropylene), or Nylon packaging rope follows a standardized, automated workflow to ensure consistent strength, durability, and twist stability—critical for secure fastening. Below is the detailed step-by-step process:

Step 1: Raw Material Preparation & Drying

  • Material Selection: High-quality granular resins are chosen based on the rope’s intended use:
    • PE resin (low-density or high-density): For cost-effectiveness, chemical resistance, and flexibility.
    • PP resin: For higher tensile strength, heat resistance, and low water absorption.
    • Nylon resin (e.g., Nylon 6, Nylon 66): For exceptional abrasion resistance, impact strength, and elasticity.
  • Drying (for Nylon/PP): Nylon and PP resins are hygroscopic (absorb moisture from air), which can cause bubbles or weak points in the final rope. They are dried in a dehumidifying dryer at 80–120°C for 2–4 hours until moisture content drops below 0.1%. PE resin typically skips this step due to low moisture absorption.

Step 2: Extrusion (Filament Formation)

  • The dried resin granules are fed into a single-screw extruder, where they are heated to a molten state (temperature varies by material: PE 160–220°C, PP 180–240°C, Nylon 220–260°C).
  • The molten polymer is pushed through a spinneret (a metal plate with hundreds of tiny holes, 0.5–2mm in diameter) to form continuous, thin filaments (called "monofilaments").
  • The extruded monofilaments are immediately cooled in a water bath (20–40°C) to solidify their shape, preventing deformation and ensuring uniform thickness.

Step 3: Drawing (Strengthening Filaments)

  • The cooled monofilaments are pulled through a drawing machine (equipped with heated rollers) at a speed faster than the extrusion speed. This "stretching" process aligns the polymer molecules in the filament, significantly increasing tensile strength (by 2–3x) and reducing elongation (preventing the rope from stretching excessively during use).
