DIN766 ISO4565 Marine Hot Dipped Galvanized Calibrated Anchor Chain Dia.8mm

Product Description:

Material Advantages:

DIN766 ISO4565 Marine Grade Hot Dipped Galvanized calibrated anchor chain dia.8mm Yacht Boat Hardware

* Use for Sailing Hardware
* Polished

* Made of marine grade 316 stainless steel, heavy duty solid construction, maximum corrosion resistance and durability in the saltwater environment.

Common materials for marine hot-dip galvanized anchor chains under DIN 766 and ISO 4565 standards include low-carbon steel, high-tensile carbon steel, and stainless steel. Here is a detailed description:

- **Grade 3 Material**: Typically low-carbon steel, conforming to BS 6405:1984 standard, and is one of the commonly used materials for anchor chains under DIN 766 standard.

- **Grade 4 Material**: Belongs to high-tensile carbon steel, such as Grade 43 material, possessing high tensile strength and providing the tension required for anchor chain retrieval. It is also a common material for this type of anchor chain.

- **Stainless Steel**: Such as AISI 304, AISI 316, or AISI 316L stainless steel, offering good corrosion resistance and suitable for environments requiring high corrosion resistance. However, anchor chains using stainless steel are usually polished rather than hot-dip galvanized.

- **20Mn2 steel**: It is also one of the commonly used materials for DIN 766 short chain anchor chains. After hot-dip galvanizing, it has high strength and good corrosion resistance.

Manufacturing Process:

The production process of DIN766 and ISO4565 marine hot-dip galvanized calibration anchor chains generally includes the following steps:

1. **Material Inspection:** Inspect the raw steel to ensure it meets relevant standards and requirements, such as checking the chemical composition and mechanical properties. The bar stock should be free of defects such as raised ribs, deep scratches, cracks, and delamination.

2. **Cutting:** Cut the steel into bars of appropriate length according to the circumference of the chain links and the diameter of the chain body. Bars of different specifications, grades, and furnace numbers should be stacked separately.

3. **Heating:** Heat the bar stock to a specific temperature. The heating temperature varies depending on the unit. For example, units #5 and #6 control the temperature between 730°C and 880°C, with a flame color of dark cherry red to bright cherry red. After heating, the ends of the bar stock should be free of obvious "incandescence" or end face collapse, which would affect quality.

4. **Bending (Binding) Links:** Use a chain link forming machine to bend the heated bar stock into chain link shapes and connect them to the previous chain link. The bending temperature varies depending on the unit. For example, for units #7 and #9, it is controlled at around 800°C, with a flame color of cherry red. After bending, the chain link opening should be centered and flush, and there should be no obvious roller marks, push rod marks, or other surface defects.

5. **Welding**: Use flash butt welding to firmly weld the chain link joints. Welding parameters must be carefully controlled. For example, the back temperature of rings #5, #6, and #7 should be controlled at around 600°C-700°C, with a flame color of brownish-red to dark cherry red. Before welding, the visual inspection distance between the joints should be ≤2mm. The welding process should include four stages: intermittent flash, continuous flash, rapid upsetting, and cooling.

6. **Deburring**: When the chain link weld temperature reaches around 550°C, with a flame color of dark brownish-red to dark red, remove excess metal from the weld joint to make the weld surface smooth.

7. **Stop Pressing (Shaping):** The chain links are pressed to ensure precise shape and dimensions, meeting standard requirements. For anchor chains with stops, welding is also required.

8. **Heat Treatment:** Depending on the anchor chain's grade, appropriate heat treatments are performed, such as quenching, tempering, and normalizing, to improve the anchor chain's strength, toughness, and other mechanical properties.

9. **Load Testing:** Samples of the produced anchor chain are taken for load testing to assess its strength and toughness, ensuring it can withstand the specified working load. Anchor chains typically undergo proof-testing, meaning the test load is twice the working load limit.

10. **Surface Treatment:** Hot-dip galvanizing is generally used. The anchor chain undergoes pretreatment such as cleaning and pickling, then is immersed in molten zinc to form a uniform, dense zinc layer on the surface, improving the anchor chain's corrosion resistance.

11. **Final Inspection:** A final quality inspection of the anchor chain is conducted, including visual inspection, dimensional measurement, and non-destructive testing, to ensure that the anchor chain conforms to relevant standards such as DIN766 and ISO4565, and customer requirements.

12. **Packaging and Coating:** After passing inspection, the anchor chain is packaged and coated with paint to further protect the surface, then stored in the warehouse awaiting shipment.

Features:

DIN766 and ISO4565 marine hot-dip galvanized calibrated anchor chains have the following characteristics:

- **High Strength and Reliability**: Typically manufactured using high-tensile carbon steel or other high-quality steel, such as Grade 43, they possess high tensile strength, capable of withstanding the immense tensile forces exerted by the ship while anchored, ensuring stable anchoring in various sea conditions.

- **Precise Calibration Dimensions**: Precisely calibrated according to DIN766 and ISO4565 standards, the chain links have high dimensional accuracy. For example, the 10mm length of the 10 links in a DIN766 standard has specific requirements. The calibrated dimensions perfectly match the sprockets of most marine anchor winches, ensuring smooth operation of the anchor chain and reducing wear and jamming.

- **Excellent Corrosion Resistance**: The hot-dip galvanizing process forms a uniform and dense zinc layer on the anchor chain surface, effectively isolating it from seawater, moisture, and other corrosive media, preventing rust and corrosion, and extending its service life in harsh marine environments. Some products also utilize enhanced solid zinc hot-dip galvanizing, such as MF brand anchor chains. Their galvanized layer has a deeper micron-level depth and stronger adhesion, extending the effective working life of the galvanized layer by 25%.

- **Good Flexibility**: The short links and compact design give the anchor chain good flexibility, allowing for smoother winding on anchor winch drums and sprockets, reducing the likelihood of excessive bending or stiffness. This contributes to improved ease of operation and extended service life.

- **Strict Quality Control**: The production process involves rigorous quality inspections, including material inspection, load testing, and non-destructive testing. Each link undergoes a proof-load test to ensure each weld is strong and reliable, meeting relevant standards and specifications, and guaranteeing the safety and reliability of the anchor chain during use.

- **High Adaptability**: Anchor chains are available in various specifications, with diameters ranging from 6mm to 90mm, meeting the needs of vessels of different tonnages, from small yachts to large merchant ships. Furthermore, their design adapts to various marine environments and mooring conditions.
